Chapter 1: Calculation of Minimum Salary for the Lowest Rank Central Government Employee Since pensions are structurally dependent on salaries, the way minimum salary is calculated directly affects pensioners’ financial well-being. While brevity is adopted for efficiency, we emphasize that reforms are urgently needed in the methodology used to calculate the minimum salary. However, It is most important that action is taken by all offices concerned on all the accepted recommendations made in the report of a CPC. Action on Para.168.3 of Vth CPC report has still not been taken despite several representations, resulting in financial loss and ignominy to the beneficiaries from the Erstwhile post of Director, Survey of India(which became defunct in 1989), having ben forced to draw pension of the lower post of Deputy Director since 1.1.96.
